Magazine Language Analysis

In magazines the language used is important in order to appeal to the readers, making them want to carry on exploring. Throughout the front cover the language used is formal, There is also a use of direct address, An example of this would be "Is your man on Tinder? Are you sure?" this can be effective as readers can get involved and interact with the content of the magazine cover, therefore making them intrigued and eager to read on. when it says "The font row's best outfit on the high street now!" the use of an exclamation mark highlights the importance of what is being said and also makes it sound exciting and cheerful.

For the content of the magazine ( the cover story) I've noticed that the cover line is written informally, "Why She's Fashion's New It Girl" when it says 'it girl' this gives off a confident feel, emphasizing her popularity and the fact that you should be like her, this may make readers feel envy/jealous of her. It's also colloquial making it likely to appeal to teens/younger audiences as they would most likely use informal speech. Making them more likely than older audiences to relate to this type of magazine. Another example of informal use of language would be "Ellie's confident. She'll wear what she wants" she's being described very positively throughout her cover story allowing us to see her in a positive light, gaining her even more popularity and even new fans, that have come across this magazine.

The language used in a magazine is incredibly important in order to project the magazine , successfully. In this magazine, the front cover title "Massive Albums Special" is formal, this may attract older audiences as they would most likely use formal speech in their everyday lives. This magazine cover title also attracts fans of this band, allowing them to feel comfortable and at ease knowing they're able to relate to this magazine.

For the content of the magazine, in the Kanye West segment, there is a use of colloquial language an example of this would be "When's it going to actually come out? 'cos he says it's good to go..." the writer uses a casual tone as if the reader are their friends, this allows the reader to feel comfortable and content on reading on, creating a positive bond between writer and reader. Language is also used to grab the reader's attention plus make them eager and enthusiastic to read on, an example of this would be "What's it going to sound like this time?" the use of a question mark, is used in order for the reader to grow curious and therefore encouraging them to read further.
